irony is the new trans fat

swim admitted that he was powerless
that his life had become unmanageable
swim scratched the back of his neck
and found dirt under his nails

swim sat next to a cup of something strong
with his mug in his hands
with his emotions in a sleeveless shirt
in his first unplugged moments

swim sat for a long spell
alternating reevaluating and coming apart
praying to something
that listed isn't on dictionary.com

is there weather out the window?
do you know what’s in it?
where are my marlboros?

swim scarfed pamphlets
and told himself the same reminder
that he had been reminded to tell
swim swam in cliche circles

swim is snide and acidic
idiotic and addicted
a paradox and a pathetic fallacy
that shops for haterade at costco
